As part of the maintenance and cleaning of green spaces in the municipality of Guimarães, the green waste collected is reused for different purposes, promoting circularity. Thus, the green waste resulting from pruning or felling trees is sent to the production of pellets and briquettes that are later delivered to schools in the municipality for use as fuel for heating the school space in winter. Also, this biomass is used for the production of chips for later placement in gardens, flowerbeds, paths or paths, in order to minimize water loss by evaporation and to prevent the growth of vegetation.
